First off, we've gotten mostly good response over our big announcement. Several people have stated that they signed up only because we're involved; that's quite flattering, I must admit.

I also have been getting a little commentary about my openness, and the fact that I don't really hide behind any curtain.

Most PMs out there are quite elusive and mysterious, and at least for the grass roots ones it's hard to tell who's running the show. Then you get someone like the famous/infamous PM known only as "XIII". Nobody knows who he is, where he is, what he is... nothing at all. He's the single biggest enigma in the grass roots ARG industry. Yet his games are unmistakable and easily identifiable as his; he doesn't need to be open about his involvement, as it's pretty clear as day. Intricate Flash site? Check. Strange Photoshop images arriving in your mailbox? Check. Russian comspiracy? Oh hell yes!

I think I'm kind of like that myself. By now everyone knows most of the staples of my games: signup pages, odd trailheads, very tech-centric material, etc... If it's going to be so obvious that I'm running a game, why should I hide?

And, in the last 48 hours, I have shown the benefit of *not* hiding... in 48 hours we had over forty unique signups.

You can't buy this kind of press, and I thank you for that.

On a semi-related note, in the same manner as "Downstream" is my personal pet project, my partner in crime is involved in an alternate reality of her own. Lauren, a.k.a. Ineffabelle, is part of the crew behind Ruby's Bequest, which starts officially on Monday.

It's a project by The Institute For The Future (the people behind Superstruct) on behalf of United Cerebral Palsy and AARP. From March 9th until April, you will follow the events of the little town of Deepwell, which is apparently in some sort of time/space anomaly as time seems to move rather fast there.

So, to get started and follow along, go become a friend of Deepwell and help out!
